San Diego restaurant rumors, openings, and coming-soons in August



New to North Park, Cruiser Taco has debuted on El Cajon Boulevard, serving street-style tacos.



Jo’s Diner has opened in Mission Hills, taking over the former Café Bleu space.



The bi-level cocktail bar and restaurant Queensborough is now open in the Gaslamp Quarter, offering bar snacks, sliders, and cocktails made with locally distilled spirits. A downstairs lounge will open later this month.



Horton Grand Hotel’s Salt & Whiskey has taken over the former Ida Bailey’s Restaurant and Palace Bar spaces, with chef Aaron Thomas (Rancho Bernardo Inn’s Avant) at the helm.



A fixture in its namesake city, Lemon Grove Bakery (formerly Grove Pastry Shop) has reopened after an eight-month closure.



Bracero has officially closed and in its place, Romesco Mexiterranean Cocina has opened, with tableside Caesar salad preparation, pasta, tostadas, and tacos.



After success in Ocean Beach, vegan Plant Power Fast Food has opened a second location, in Encinitas.



The new complex Park 101 in Carlsbad Village is serving barbecue, sandwiches, coffee, donuts, and ice cream sandwiches, plus complimentary cotton candy for kids.



Rolled Up has launched a second Hillcrest outpost, bringing its signature sushi burritos, rice bowls, and sous vide desserts to The Hub shopping center.



Suzie’s Farm has shut down its Tijuana River Valley operation due to declining profits.
