Location: Top floor of San Diego Central Library

Camera: Canon 60D, shot at 18mm focal length

The new Central Library affords stellar views of the waterfront area and Coronado Bridge. These views were what downtown resident Jay Wick was hoping to capture when he ventured into the building this past April. However, the architecture became its own work of art for Wick. “At the top, I was more drawn to the lines and symmetry of the actual building,” he says. “I have a thing for symmetry. It’s pleasing to the eye and often requires the viewer to look longer to take in the full image.” He added that his subject “looks more like the lair of a James Bond villain than a library.”
