Golf pairs nicely with myriad activities, from hiking to boating and gaming, and San Diego and its desert backyard are rich with adventures on and off the greens.

Lakehouse Resort

Golf: Resort guests can enjoy 18 holes in the coastal foothills of North San Diego at St. Mark Golf Club or a quick round at their Executive Course.

Play: Hop aboard an electric Duffy for a “Brews Cruise,” a two-hour tour of Lake San Marcos with a private captain and a bucket of craft beers. Kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding are available, too.

Stay: This San Marcos resort has 144 guest rooms and six cottages with private fire pits and balconies overlooking the lake, two pools, two hot tubs, and lakeside dining at Decoy Dockside. Their Stay & Play package means unlimited golf over the course of your stay.

Golf & Gaming

Sycuan Golf Resort

Golf: Located in East County, Sycuan offers 54 holes of Ted Robinson–designed golf with tree-lined fairways, dramatic mountain vistas, elevation changes, manicured landscapes, and undulating greens.

Play: A complimentary shuttle delivers guests to the nearby casino for 24-hour gaming, featuring 2,000 reel and video slots, table games, bingo, and a 16-table poker room. Catch a big-name act at the 457-seat Sycuan Live & Up Close showroom.

Stay: This golf resort boasts 100 stylish rooms, a spectacular spa, the Echo Lounge for post-golf libations, and the Red Tail Grill for steaks on the patio overlooking the fairway.

Golf & Car Racing

La Quinta Resort

Golf: Desert golf at its finest can be found at La Quinta Resort & PGA West, five public courses designed by legends Pete Dye, Jack Nicklaus, and Greg Norman.

Play: Rev it up at the BMW Performance Driving Center, where guests can experience a private session for two and lap around the track behind the wheel of a turbocharged Beamer.

Stay: This desert hideaway, a favorite since 1926, sits at the foothills of the Santa Rosa Mountains. Flower-filled gardens, 41 glistening pools, gorgeous guest rooms, and elegant dining make it a desert jewel.
