Get Sporty

Published:

Love to exercise, but you’re not a gym rat? There’s an app for that.

The San Diego – based company Sportaneous Inc. now offers a Web site (sportaneous.com) and free iPhone application that allows a user to find nearby pick-up games — and it factors in the person’s interests, schedule and skill level. Users can also propose a game for others to join.
The inventors, three San Diego natives, say they wanted to create a unique alternative to expensive gym memberships that also invites community interaction and fun for sports-lovers. The creators want their app to facilitate exercise in a way that’s convenient and enjoyable.

So far, the Sportaneous app is available only for iPhones, but the company is considering expanding to Blackberry and Android.
