The world’s largest free annual environmental fair and Earth Day celebration happens April 17 in Balboa Park (earthdayweb.org/EarthFair.html). Bone up on a few facts beforehand.

  1.  The average American uses 80-100 gallons of water per day (with the most gallons going down the toilet).
  2. The United States uses a fourth of the world’s oil but has only 3 percent of the reserves.
  3. The average American uses up about seven trees every year.
