Mischievous Mark

Published:

In the vocabulary of modern dance, Mark Morris has added several hundred new words to the lexicon. His work is audacious, illuminating, beguiling, playful and often mischievous. For La Jolla Music Society’s Celebrity Series, this important U.S. choreographer is making an all-too-rare visit with his now world-famous Mark Morris Dance Troupe. The program of works to a live musical accompaniment looks intriguing: Bartok’s String Quartet No. 4 in C Major and Schumann’s Piano Quintet in E-Flat Major, Op. 44. (Apr. 23-24 at 8, Copley Symphony Hall, 750 B St., downtown, 858-459-3728, www.ljms.org.)
