Tasting notes, fast facts, and expert reviews on every brewery in the San Diego region

Housed inside Blind Lady Ale House, Automatic Brewing is the nano-brewing side of the operation. Lee Chase, former brewer at Stone and one of the four partners in Blind Lady, has developed some space within the ale house to do some of his own beers. The brew operation is small, kind of hidden, and not operating on a set schedule. But the production is well worth seeking out.
Blind Lady is a comfortable and welcoming place, and it’s popular with locals as well as craft beer insiders. Long, communal-style wooden tables provide ample seating and create a warm, social atmosphere that’s particularly family friendly. The kitchen provides a nice selection of simple un-fussy food and includes organic and vegan options along with house-made chorizo, salami, and other carnivore’s delights.
With 26 taps, Blind Lady offers a fine selection of great craft beer that always includes admirable representation from San Diego and usually includes at least a few Automatic Brewing options. Their sister establishment—Tiger! Tiger!—is located only about a mile away on El Cajon Boulevard. There is no on-site brewing there, but the friendly vibe and approach are similar.
