What’s Your Secret Dream Job?
Some of us will realize our dream of (guest) bartending tonight at Sidebar
Tonight at Sidebar, a couple of magazine staffers will be guest bartending at a birthday party for one of our account executives, Jason Gregory.
I’m excited (and nervous) to tend bar! I’ve always secretly dreamed of being a bartender. I can’t stand cooking, but mixing drinks? That's a higher calling.
Lizzie, one of our guest bartenders says: “I secretly want to be a scuba instructor on a live-aboard in the Bahamas or Belize! Seems so adventurous and you would have the best stories!”
And Brittany? She would have to decide between a globe-trotting yoga instructor, a cheese shop owner in France, and an Anthropologie window designer. (I couldn’t choose, either! Wish we could do it all.)
Related: Some people actually do have two completely random, antithetical and simultaneous careers. And it’s fascinating to hear about San Diegans’ second lives. Here at the magazine, we’ve covered a finance gal who moonlights as a roller derby girl, and a beer store manager who directs plays in his off-hours, and a chocolatier/Marilyn Monroe impersonator.
That reminds me: Get ready for our Jobs & Salaries Issue (on newsstands June 28–but subscribers can look for it in their mailboxes starting tomorrow!).
Meantime, come watch a few of us pour cocktails tonight at Sidebar!
