ViX Swimwear & Nika Water Team Up

Vix Swimwear Mustique DressOne of my favorite new additions to my swimsuit collection this year has been ViX Swimwear’s Vitoria Red Orange Triangle Fringe Top. And judging from the stream of “Which bikini should I get?” emails in my inbox from ladies around the office, it’s safe to say that ViX pieces are favorites among the staff as well. Now that they are partnering with Nika Water, a San Diego-based premium bottled water company that donates 100% of its profits toward the world water crisis, I’ve found yet another reason to support these two local companies with a mission to do good.

On Wednesday, June 13, the two San Diego brands are teaming up for project Agua Pura Brasil (translation: “Pure Water Brasil” in Portuguese), which will bring clean water to approximately 4,500 Brazilians living along the Amazon River. La Valencia will host the launch party from 6-8:30 PM, featuring Brazilian cocktails, summer fare and a silent auction to raise funds for the cause.

“With this project, it takes just $11 to give one person sustainable and clean water, which drops child mortality rates by half and provides improved sanitation and hygiene for entire communities,” said Paula Hermanny, founder of ViX Swimwear. “ViX’s Brasilian roots and Nika’s dedication to the impoverished make Água Pura Brasil a very special, heartfelt project.”

The two companies have already committed half of the $50,000 project goal. Of the 4,500 people that the campaign aims to impact, 3,500 will be children under the age of 10. World Vision, Nika Water’s partner and ViX’s charity of choice, will identify approximately 200 families across 10 communities and work to provide clean and sustainable water for these people and their families, having the potential to drop child mortality rates by half.

“Nika’s mission is to improve quality of life through clean water projects in underdeveloped countries, and Água Pura Brasil represents an important partnership and synergy of goals between Nika and ViX,” said Jeff Church, founder of Nika Water. “Through these two organizations, our NGO World Vision, and the support of other sponsors and partners, we will be making a significant difference and creating opportunities in the lives of many in need. ”

- For each item sold in June and July from ViX’s special Agua Pura Brasil section, they will donate the $11 it takes for one person to get clean water (I have my eye on the Mustique June Long Skirt!)

- A $22 donation at the door for the June 13 event will bring clean water to two people. All proceeds from the door and silent auction will go towards the project.
