New Collection From San Diego Designer M.Dot

The local designer has moved into her East Village space—and now she's ready to move right into the Fall season

I’ve been a devoted fan of the young San Diego clothing designer, Michelle Aquino a.k.a. M.Dot, for a couple of years now. I was introduced to her designs at the Maeve Riley boutique in South Park—which sadly didn’t make it through the downturn.

I’ve written about Aquino and commissioned her to make a dress for me.

She has come a long way from working in her tiny studio apartment in Barrio Logan to opening her new work/live space in the East Village—920 E Street (By appointment only).

She was kind enough to allow our readers to get a sneak peak of her new fall collection, which will be available beginning in September.

She calls it Equestrian Romance, and says it’s a mix of Ralph Lauren and Jean Paul Gaultier.

The colors are nudes and pinks and the fabrics are wool, silk, and chiffon.

The model is Naduah Rugley from America’s Next Top Model.

Check out the video of her collection on youtube.
