GO. DO GOOD.

San Diego startup reaches out to help local restaurant owner

In 2011, Tuba Ibrahim was diagnosed with leukemia. She and her husband Sam own La Mirage Mediterranean Café and Grill in Downtown, and formerly owned Pasha Mediterranean Café and Grill in Hillcrest (the doctor who diagnosed her was a regular). When their insurance company declined to extend her coverage, the Ibrahims had to sell Pasha to pay for medication. San Diego-based startup MOGL—who had partnered with the Ibrahims to promote their restaurant—has stepped up to create Tuba's Lukemia Benefit. Tonight from 4PM-9PM, La Mirage will host a benefit with all proceeds going to her medical expenses. There will be apps, a cash beer and wine bar, a raffle—all the usual ways to make a very hard, heartfelt cause into a good time and raise some money to help a local in need. $10 per person, $2 for raffle tix. Go. Do good. La Mirage Mediterranean Grill, 815 F Street, Downtown, 619.294-4444.
