G'NIGHT: Red Pearl Kitchen

Tim Goodell's pan-Asian restaurant in the Gaslamp closes

Red Pearl Kitchen closed on Monday. The pan-Asian concept was a high-profile spot when it opened in the Gaslamp in 2006, part of Domaine Restaurants from talented restaurant couple Tim and Liza Goodell. But unlike their other concepts, Red Pearl never really struck a cord (too almost-Asian). The SD location was the last holdout, with the original spot in Huntington Beach closing in 2008, and Hollywood shuttering a year later. The Goodells still have Public Kitchen at H-Wood's Thompson Hotel, plus their now-expanding concept 25 Degrees. With three locations of 25 Degrees opening soon, they don't have time to lose too much sleep over the SD closure.
