TONIGHT: Eat for Newtown

Basic and URBN donates all pizza proceeds to Sandy Hook tonight

Breaking news: The second week of January is National Pizza Week! More breaking news: Every food has co-opted a day on the calendar, so it's difficult to care.

That said, Monday night is a great night for pie, and Basic Urban Kitchen + Bar and URBN is currently my favorite pizza in the city. From 5-7PM tonight, they're doing a really, really awesome thing: donating all proceeds—PROCEEDS, not just profits—to the Sandy Hook School Support System. If you want dinner with a little heart, go order a couple New Haven-style pies (thin, crispy-chewy crust spin on Neapolitano). That's how you care about National Anything Weeks.
