Wells Fargo Volunteer – Red Shoe Day

The Ronald McDonald Red Shoe Day was held on June 26 with 1,300 volunteers collecting cash donations at major intersections during the morning commute on June 26. A total of $190,000 was raised from the 150 roadside locations throughout the county. The funds help San Diego’s Ronald McDonald House operate a 47-bedroom facility and Family Care Center that provides respite for families with a hospitalized child. “The pennies, dollars and more donated during Red Shoe Day adds up, allowing us to serve families with a child in medical crisis,” said Chuck Day, president and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego. Red Shoe Day sponsors include Wells Fargo, Geico, Motel 6, The UPS Store, Sycuan and Brinks.

Rotary Club of Coronado presented a $1,500 grant to The Salvation Army in support of the Homeless Outreach Program. The donation will help The Salvation Army expand its homeless outreach services into the South Bay communities. The program provides referrals for shelters, employment programs, health services, drug and alcohol treatment, case management, food, clothing and transportation for homeless in need of assistance.
