BOMA’s Annual Work Party

The Building Owners and Managers Association, BOMA San Diego’s annual Summer Work Party was held on July 26 at North County Community Services. The North River Road Preschool in Oceanside was the site where 40 volunteers from local companies worked to landscape areas of the playground, construct new benches, refurbish existing seating areas, repaint classroom walls, deep clean the restrooms and re-correct plumbing issues. BOMA San Diego holds this community service event each year and collects donations for member companies to benefit a selected non-profit organization.

The Ellen Browning Scripps Foundation donated $40,000 in grants to benefit homeless animals in San Diego County. A grant of $20,000 will go to the San Diego Humane Society’s Escondido Campus to install permanent air conditioning in the animal intake area and the remaining $20,000 will be used for outsourcing specialized veterinary services for animals in need of extra care. Dr. Gary Weitzman, president and CEO of the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA expressed his gratitude to Doug Dawson and all the trustees of the Ellen Browning Scripps Foundation for their generous donation.  Weitzman said, “We are sincerely grateful for our longstanding partnership with the Ellen Browning Scripps Foundation.
