Everyday Eats: Korean BBQ Tacos from Jiggle Jiggle Korean Grill

Jiggle Jiggle Korean Grill
Korean BBQ Taco Trio: $8

Let's face it, often the three most important parts of the day are breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And that's why here at SanDiegoMagazine.com, we're beefing up our food and restaurant coverage by shining the spotlight on tasty meals under $10. Foie gras and Kobe beef still have a place at our table, but these meals are so reasonably priced, you can eat them every day.

Tacos are a notoriously flexible food item. Start with any protein, add vegetable roughage for crunch and sauce for moisture, and dollars to donuts, they’re going to taste great. For me, Korean fusion is one of the best variations on the taco.

Newly opened Jiggle Jiggle Korean Grill is a great spot to sample a variety of Korean street tacos, and a good entry-point for Korean cuisine in general. Tacos are stuffed with marinated and grilled meat, fresh slaw, salsa verde, spicy mayo, and crave-worthy sweet chili aioli (all made in house). The meat does have a kick, but the aioli tempers it quite a bit, so feel free to liberally apply the red pepper and jalapeno hot sauce, which comes in a bottle on the side.

Meat options include spicy pork, chicken, and short rib, plus a kimchee/short rib combo. Individual tacos are available for $2.80 each, but the trio (pork, chicken, and short rib) is the better bet.

The combination of crunchy slaw, juicy meat, and creamy aioli, plus the unique flavor profile of the Korean spices make these tacos a delicious departure from the ordinary. And at just $8 for the complete meal, they’re a slam-dunk.
