San Diego Happy Half Hour Podcast: Episode 26

Oscar's brings fish tacos to North County, a wine bar opens in Liberty Station, and our cocktail columnist Kelly Davis dishes on the best drinks in town

By Archana Ram

In today’s episode of Happy Half Hour, hosts Erin Chambers Smith and Troy Johnson along with producer Archana Ram share all the latest in dining and drinking news. Oscar’s Mexican Seafood will be opening its first location in North County, and further south in Liberty Station, Grape Smuggler has opened in Liberty Public Market, with a selection of wines from lesser-known regions selected by Greg Majors, who once worked for Tom Colicchio (of Top Chef fame) in New York.

And this week we welcome Kelly Davis, our SD Sips cocktail columnist who’s written about everything from the best tiki cocktails to how to make your own simple syrup. She chats about her favorite bartenders in the city, the relationship between San Diego and Tijuana bartenders, and what it was like to work with Troy back when they worked together at CityBeat.

We also talk Small Bites, including a great date night restaurant, the best things we ate this month, and where to party this New Year’s Eve. Cheers!
