How Scripps is Helping Stop the Bleed

The national Stop the Bleed campaign stresses the importance of tourniquets

In an emergency, properly tied tourniquets can be as important as CPR. Whether from a bullet wound or other traumatic injury, blood loss can kill in just five minutes. But properly placing pressure on a wound or applying a tourniquet could help save lives. That’s why Scripps doctors are getting behind the national Stop the Bleed campaign. Read more about this important initiative here. There are a few steps you can take to stop bleeding in an emergency, even if you don’t have medical training.
